Singer and Songwriter Ester Dean won 3 BMI Pop Awards at the 61st BMI Pop Awards, held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in California on May 14.

She won the awards for ‘Mr Know it all’ by Kelly Clarkson, ‘Turn me on’ by David Guetta ft Nicki Minaj and ‘Where have you been’ by Rihanna

DEMONSTRATING a triple-threat of talents, Ester Dean’s credits include singer, songwriter and actress.

Having penned songs for the likes of Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry, the US artist found favour as an artist in her own right with the release of her 2009 single Drop It Low featuring Chris Brown.

Since then, the Oklahoma-born singer lent her vocals to UK MC Tinie Tempah’s 2011 track Love Suicide, and voiced the character Sloth Siren in the animated smash Ice Age: Continental Drift, to which she also lent her writing talents with the title song We Are.

More recently, she made her acting debut in the 2012 comedy musical Pitch Perfect. Following the trials and tribulations of the Barden University all-female singing group The Bellas, as they take on the National Championships of Collegiate A Cappella, the film saw Dean play Cynthia-Rose; a misunderstood, gambling lesbian.

Pitch Perfect sequel confirmed for 2015!

Universal Studios has announced a sequel to the hit movie, and it’s assumed Wilson, who starred in the original, will also appear in the follow-up.

The original Glee-esque flick starred Wilson as Fat Amy, whose one-liners and sharp wit shone a gleaming light on the Sydney-born actress.

Wilson recently performed onstage with her Pitch Perfect castmates at the MTV Awards on April 14, which she also hosted.

On the night, the Aussie star revealed she hoped for a follow-up to the feel-good hit. And it seems her dreams have come true, with Universal announcing on Wednesday that a sequel will be released in 2015.

Screenwriter Kay Cannon will return to pen the follow-up, but the cast for the sequel has not yet been confirmed.
